REVIEW: Silk Organix Body Wax Strips with Aloe Vera and Almond Extract

Hi everyone. Today  I am gonna be posting a review of a waxing strip which we've used last month, but I had to wait for a month before posting this review so that I can give more insights and input about the product. This is from a brand called Silk Organix, and its the Body Wax Strips with Aloe Vera and Almond Extract. I just took this one because it was the first thing I saw when I was scanning Watsons for waxing strips. And also because it was cheap.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Go hair-free without the hassle thanks to Silk Organix Body Wax Strips! Strip the unwanted body hair using this ready-to-use strip - just rub, peel and go!
  • Includes 8 pieces of wax strips
  • Infused with Aloe Vera
  • Contains almond extracts
  • For legs, arms, and bikini area
  • Suitable for all hair types
  • Dermatologically tested &, Suitable for sensitive skin
Price wise it is actually affordable, I think this was around Php 100-120 more or less. You get 8 strips already and 1 wipe. Not bad. Packaging was also great as the waxing strips were housed in a plastic.

HOW TO USE

  1. Rub the wax strips between your hands for 30 seconds until wax feels warm.
  2. Make sure that the skin is clean, dry and free of oil and moisturizers.
  3. Gently pull the strips apart and check if each side of the strip has the same amount if wax.
  4. Apply the strips over the hair and wait for approximately 5 seconds to ensure that the strips is securely fixed in the skin.
  5. Keep the wax strip taut to the skin. Using the other hand, hold the edge tab of the strip then pull it back in one swift motion at the opposite direction of hair growth. Faster you remove the strip, the more effective it will be. You may re-use each strip several times until it loses its stickiness.
  6. After Waxing, remove any excess wax with post depilatory wipes provided. If you run out of wipes, you may use baby oil.

INGREDIENTS

Hydrogenated Polycyclopentadiene, Paraffinum Liquidum, Cera Microcristallina, Parfum, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Heliantus Annus Seed Oil, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate Linalool, Heyl Cinnamal, Limonene, BHT, Simmaondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Tocoperyl Acetate, Ascorbyl Plamitate, CI 47000 (yellow), CI 61565 (Green), Prunus Dulcis (Almond Oil) Extract.

So these are the strips, packed inside a plastic. Nothing special, but at least its hygienic and you can easily bring it or put it inside your make up bag.

This is the cleansing wipe that it comes with. Unfortunately you only have 1 of this, so if you end up not using all strips then you can just use baby oil next time you use the wax strips. I actually thought I won't need this, but it turns out that the wax is kinda sticky so this was really handy. I would have wanted more than just 1 of this.

Since I'm currently doing laser for my underarms, I can't test this out on my own underarms, but instead I'll have it applied on to my sister's UA instead. This is how her current underarms look like. This is like 100% virgin UA as she hasn't shaved, plucked nor wax it. Ever.

This is my first time to try waxing, and since I've cut the wax paper in small rectangular pieces, it actually works! Hurray! In the photos below you can see that the underarm hair was removed and stuck to the wax paper itself, although I wasn't able to get everything in one go. Next time I will try to cut the wax paper in bigger sizes to fill the whole underarm area.

Now for the review. Honestly, I wasn't expecting the hair to be pulled out by the wax strips. Looking at the strip itself, it didn't seem sticky enough for me to believe it can actually remove underarm hair. But when I removed the first strip and saw the amount of hair that was actually removed, I admit I was a bit amazed, specially since this was my first time to try waxing (not on my underarm though). It was good enough for me, for a first time waxing session. My sister's underarm was a bit red after waxing so we just applied powder to possibly help specially with the stickiness. What I didn't like was the width of the strip. It would have been better if it was a bit wider so that it can cover the whole underarm so you only have to wax and strip once. I will try other wax strip brands to see if there is anything better.

Before posting my review, I've waited for the underarm hair to start growing again to see if there's going to be a difference in terms of the hair growth after waxing, and have documented the photos below for reference.

P.S. Photos above of my sister's underarms were taken last August 9. After a month, this is how her underarms look like 1 month post wax strips.

The outcome of the hair growth a month after is actually good. I mean, it's still our first attempt and the hair growth isn't that much as compared to how it was before waxing. It's still too early to tell if the hair is thinner but I am happy with the overall results and will continue to use the remaining strips of wax to see if the results will be better over time.

Each area of the body and the hair that covers it is different and requires different care. Come to waxing salon Tucson to remove & reduce the growth of the hairs.

  3. What a lovely blog, and what fantastic information you have provided. Unwanted body hair can be removed effectively by waxing. It is simple, quick, and convenient to do at home. Finding a different hair removal technique is advised for a variety of reasons, though. A few days ago, I have taken the services of Vardah Beauty Salon, which allows individuals to perform this process in the comfort of their homes without the high costs or health risks found in a professional salon. I prefer this saloon which gives awesome service and now my face is looking very nice.
